In celebration ofInternational Women in Engineering Dayand recognition ofInternational Day of the Seafarers, OceansAdvance and COVE are pleased to present the next Coffee with CWOIL.

This will be a panel discussion moderated by Shelly Petten ofPanGeo Subseaand featuring the following Women of COVE:

Jasmine Droppers, PhD,Control Systems Engineer,Kraken Robotic Systems Inc.
Jasmine Droppers received B.S. and M.S. degrees in aerospace engineering from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Santa Clara University. She worked as an aerospace engineer, an agricultural engineer, and a general engineering consultant before joining the marine engineering world. She now works as a Controls Engineer at Kraken Robotics where she puts her academic marine robotics experience to practical use on a variety of marine vehicles.


Jan Fullerton, MPNL,Executive Director,Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association
Jan Fullerton is the Executive Director of the Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association, a role that she never expected but greatly enjoys. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Jan grew up surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and has spent time on and around the Pacific and Arctic oceans including driving on the frozen Beaufort Sea. She has spent much of her career in the nonprofit sector working with labour market development, picking up a Masters in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership along the way before landing in her current role promotingand supporting the local boatbuilding and marine repair industry.

Sue L’Orsa.Glider Technician,Coastal Environmental Observation Technology and Research (CEOTR)
Sue works with both Liquid Robotics Wave Gliders and Teledyne Webb Research Slocum gliders. She is responsible for glider maintenance, mission planning, field operations and training Wave Glider pilots.
